What is the deadline to register for Parent & Family Weekend?

Your registration and payment must be received by Monday, November 3. Any registrations or payments received after that date will be accepted on a space available basis only.

What packages are available for Parent & Family Weekend?

There are a variety of packages available for guests attending Parent & Family Weekend. Guests may sign up for Friday events ($30/person), Saturday events ($45/person), or the entire Weekend ($75/person). Additionally, guests may sign up to participate in the IFC 5K Fun Run/Walk ($20/person) using a separate registration form available online.

How does the Panther Parents Association discount apply?

Members of the Panther Parents Association may receive a $10 discount off of their individual registration for Parent & Family Weekend when they register for the entire weekend. How do I pay for Parent & Family Weekend?

At this time, we are ONLY able to accept personal checks or money orders for payment. Please make them payable to FIU and be sure to include your student’s PantherID.

Does my student have to pay to attend Parent & Family Weekend events?

FIU students can attend any of the Parent & Family Weekend events with their guests free of charge if they show their Panther ID Card, with the exception of the Interfraternity Council (IFC) 5K Fun Run/Walk. Students wishing to participate in the run/walk must pay the registration fee. All proceeds from the run/walk are donated to the Special Olympics.

What does the registration fee include?

Registration fees cover the food and staffing at various events, football game tickets, and Parent & Family Weekend materials (program, schedule, tickets, etc.). All proceeds from the Interfraternity Council (IFC) 5k Fun Run/Walk are donated to the Special Olympics.

What is the refund policy for Parent & Family Weekend?

Refunds will be granted for extenuating circumstances only prior to Monday, November 3. After that date, the office will not provide refunds.

Who do I contact to change my registration details?

What is the attire for Parent & Family Weekend?

The dress for the weekend is casual and comfortable. Blue and Gold are always good colors for game day. Miami weather in October usually consists of warm days and sometimes cool nights. It is a good idea to bring a sweater or light jacket for the evening. In the event of rain, Parent & Family Weekend activities will take place as scheduled.

Where can I park during Parent & Family Weekend?

At the University Park campus, you may park your vehicle either in the Gold Parking Garage or in Lot 3. Please view the campus map for directions. Please make sure that you do not park in any metered, Faculty/Staff, or Administrator spaces.

Where can I pick up my registration materials for Parent & Family Weekend?

Your Parent & Family Weekend packet will be available for pickup before the Parade in front of the Office of Orientation & Commuter Student Services, Graham Center Room 112, from 5-6:30pm. After that point, Parent & Family Weekend packets may be picked up during the Barbecue in the Housing Quad Friday night, or during the Parent & Family Weekend Brunch on Saturday. Please bring your printed confirmation, and have your student bring her or his Panther Card.

Can I attend class with my student on Friday?

It is up to each faculty member to determine if they will allow any guests into their classroom. Before arriving, please check with each individual faculty member about sitting in on a class lecture.
